HOW CAN WE (PORT OF OPPORTUNITIES) HELP YOU?

Our team always follows the same steps during our matching procedure. Below you can read what we do and what we expect of you to create a great match between you and your (soon to be) employer.

Step 1: getting in touch
The first step is completely up to you! Namely, getting in touch with us and letting us know what kind of job you are looking for. You can reach out to us by applying for a job. You can browse through our function profiles and send your resume to the one that fits you the best. If you rather send an open application, that's no problem! You can do so here.

When you have send us your resume through the website, it appears in the inbox of our career coaches.

You will immediately receive a confirmation email that we have received your application.

  • If this is not the case, please check your spam box to see if it accidentally was sent there. If so, you can add our email address to your contacts to make sure our emails do not get identified as spam in the future.
  • If you did not receive a confirmation email at all, please contact us to make sure we have properly received your application. You can send us a WhatsApp message or use our contact from.

Step 2: you have received a confirmation email
The confirmation email holds a few questions that are important for us to know the answers to. Please email us back with the ansers to those questions. If you do not answer us, we cannot help you any further and our career coaches will not get in touch with you.

Once the career coaches have received your reply to the confirmation email, they will personally get in touch with you to discuss to what extent they can help you find a job in the port and industry of Rotterdam. If you live far away from Rotterdam for example, or do not have a BSN number yet, options are limited. They will provide you with advice on how to proceed, by for example explaining how you can acquire a BSN or the right language skills.

Step 3: meeting in person
When we think we can help you find a job in the port and industry of Rotterdam, we invite you for an intake at our office in Spijkenisse. Our career coaches like to get to know you personally, so they can guide you to a job in the best way possible.

Of course, every intake is personal and adapted accordingly. However, in general the following themes will be discussed:

  • who you are (background information, where you come from, how long you've lived in the Netherands etc.);
  • what your previous professional experience is (where have you worked, what were your responisibilites and tasks there?);
  • what your ambitions are. What kind of job would make you happy and help you build your future here in the Netherlands;
  • education possibilities.

Step 4: looking for the right match
After the intake, the career coaches will start looking for employers that would fit you and your wishes best. If, after the intake, it is clear we cannot help you fullfill your wishes, your career coach will honestly tell you so and give you advice on how to proceed.

Looking for the right match may take a while. Your career coach will keep you up-to-date on the progress they are making. When they have found a job opportunity that might just be right for you, they will reach out to you and discuss it with you. If you are excited about the opportunity as well, your career coach will plan an interview with the company for you.

Our career coach will accompany you to your interview and help you when needed during the conversation. However, you will of course be in charge of the conversation, as it is you who will be working for the company when everything goes well.

If the job is not a great fit, for you or the employer, we will keep on searching!

Step 5: you have a new job!
When you have a new job, we will stay in touch with you. We will check-in on you at the beginning to see if you are settling in well, and you can always contact us with questions about your contract.
