Laboratory Assistant

Milena is a young professional looking for new opportunities as a laboratory assistant in the food industry.

Milena has got a Master’s degree in Food technology engineering from the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. Her educational background allows her to work as a technology engineer in all food, organic and non-organic products and drinks industries.

Gained her first experience of work in the international company during studies 

She has almost 3 years experience as a food testing laboratory assistant. All her job experience she gained during her studies. Her first two jobs (laboratory assistant), were performed on a part-time basis due her studies at that time. Her most recent work experience, as a quality engineer for the Carlsberg company, was a full-time job. She was recommended there by her institute as a highly motivated student who has already gained experience in the area and she was doing it together with writing her Diploma paper.

Learning by doing approach

Because of her jobs she has learned how to take samples, create tests, how to do chemical and physicochemical analyses of products, monitor compliance with technological discipline and maintain an electronic database of quality data registration. All the time, it was learning by working.

Unforeseen circumstances led to a career hiatus

After graduating from the institute, she decided to take a small break from work and studies and went to Poland with some friends. It was supposed to be a two months break, but then the covid epidemy happened, and she got stuck there. She started working in Poland to earn money to buy her apartment back in Ukraine. The war in Ukraine started when she was ready to return and continue her career as a food quality engineer. So now she is looking for a job in the Netherlands that will match her education level and previous work experience.

Her English is good enough to perform laboratory functions and communicate with colleagues. She has also started learning the Dutch language.
